From Oklahoma to Idaho

This past week Brett and I visited our dear friends Josh and Ashley in northwest Idaho. We had a great time talking, laughing, playing games, and reminiscing. Furthermore, we got a small glimpse into both the struggles and the joys that a teacher and a pastor experience in a rural, different part of the country. Part of what fascinated me the most about this part of the country was that in terms of scenery, it was one of the most beautiful places I've seen. Yet in terms of wealth, it was one of the most desperate places I've seen. I kept saying, "It's like being in another country."

Josh and Ashley are living proof that you don't have to go very far to find others that are hurting and are in need of love and compassion. And I'm so glad we got the opportunity to visit them this Christmas!

Here are a few pictures from our travels...

They almost made a dog person out of me. Almost.
Please note Ivan's face (the bigger one).
